    'Your mindset is how you
    think about things,
what you think you can or can’t do.'

A gentle non-fiction picture book about emotions, mindfulness, your amazing brain and how to feel calm.

How does your brain work, and what does it have to do with moods? Why do you sometimes feel anxious, cross or afraid, and what can you do about it? How can breathing, looking at a snowglobe, or changing what the voice inside you says, help you feel better?

When we tell ourselves negative stories – like “I’m not good at maths” – it becomes harder to learn. But if we can change our mindset – “I’m not good at maths yet” – we help our brains to learn.

Mighty Mindsets puts together mindsets, mindfulness and neuroscience in a gentle self-care manual for young readers. With calming and playful illustrations by Carol Betera, Mighty Mindsets helps children understand their emotions and learn tips to take care of their mental health.

"This is a title that belongs in every school library, as a first step into emotional literacy and mental health awareness." — Children's Books Ireland

"This book is an excellent introduction to mindfulness for children." — Irish Examiner

"This is not the first mindfulness book for kids I’ve encountered but it’s probably the nicest and the most picturesque ... A gorgeous book." —Offaly Independent

"A valuable way to cultivate resilience and mindfulness."  — Kirkus Reviews

"Cute. I liked the illustrations and they way that the book was organized. The mindsets provided were helpful and written at an appropriate level. Explained for children, but also entertaining enough for an adult to read. I liked the real life examples of optimism, perseverance, and resilience." — NetGalley Educator

    About the Illustrator

Carol Betera is an illustrator, teacher and potter. She grew up in London and has lived in Ireland for 40 years.  When she was a child her favourite things to draw were cats, and frocks. Now she likes to draw almost anything, including aeroplanes, cranes, elephants, and insects. She has made lots of props for the theatre, and  would sometimes rummage in garbage dumps for useful things to turn into trees, flowers, birdcages or whatever was needed. Sometimes they worked out well and sometimes they didn’t, but each one was different, so she kept going.
