Writing Speculative Fiction for Children Master Class with Laureate na nÓg, Ireland's Children's Literature Laureate, Patricia Forde

Join author Patricia Forde as she shares insight from writing her latest book, The Girl who Fell to Earth, and provides tips on how to write your own piece of speculative fiction/dystopian fiction. 

The workshop will consider the challenges of worldbuilding, the capacity of dystopian fiction to frighten and warn, and how history can play a part in writing about the future. 

Trish can address any part of the process, from setting up the rules of an imagined society to blending fantasy and reality to exploring real issues through a fictional lens.

Join authors Patricia Forde, Deirdre Sullivan, and Sam Thompson, and our Publisher Matthew Parkinson-Bennett, on the Rac-on-Tour! What is the Rac-on-Tour, you ask? It's a book mobile, book caravan and art installation. It's the Magic Schoolbus meets Howl's Moving Castle. It's a quirky and charming creative space where you will be treated to readings from the authors' latest Little Island Books, and a stirring chat about Irish children's book publishing.
